What is JEE Advanced?

JEE Advanced is conducted every year by either of the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee or Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore under the patronage of the Joint Admission Board (JAB). If your aim is to be a part of the Top IITs in India, then IIT JEE advanced 2020 is the first stride to help you in showing the way to reach the edge.

Based on ranks obtained by candidates in JEE Advanced 2020, admissions to Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the 23 IITs including the Indian School of Mines (ISM) are done. The candidates can go through the JEE Advanced Past Papers which are the best resources to prepare for the JEE Advanced Examination. Along with this, they can also try out JEE Advanced Mock Tests to increase their level of preparation. IIT Delhi is going to hold the JEE Advanced 2020 exam for UG Engineering admission across 23 IITs across the country.

This time, the top 2.5 lakh qualifiers of JEE Main 2020 will be allowed to appear for JEE Advanced 2020 exam. Qualifying candidates may apply from the third week of April 2020.

What are the JEE Advanced 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Indian (OCI/PIO) candidates?

The eligibility of the Indian candidates(OCI/PIO) for appearing JEE Advanced falls under five criteria, they are:

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 1 - Performance in JEE Main 2020

Candidates should be in the top 2,50,000 (including reserved categories) in Paper 1 of JEE Main 2020. However, the total number of candidates can be slightly greater than 2,50,000 in the presence of tied ranks/scores.

The percentages of different categories of shortlisted candidates are: 27% seats for OBC-NCL, 4% for GEN-EWS, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 46.5% is OPEN for all.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2 – Age limit

There is no age limit for JEE Advanced 2020. As per the Supreme Court’s orders candidates who are 25 years or more are also eligible for the examination. However, their candidature is subject to court orders.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 3 – Number of Attempts

A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 4 – Year of Passing Class XII

Students appearing for class 12th in 2020 are eligible to appear in the examination.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 5 – Earlier Admission at IITs

  • A candidate who has earlier been admitted in an IIT/ISM or accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting center in the past, are not eligible to apply.
  • Those candidates whose admission at IIT was canceled after joining IIT are not eligible.
  • Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2017 can appear.

JEE Advanced 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals:

Candidates falling under the following category will be considered as Foreign Nationals for JEE Advanced:

  • Non-citizens of India (by birth or naturalized)
  • Non-OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) and Non-PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) category
  • Candidates whose parents are not citizens of India and do not come under the OCI/PIO category at the time of JEE Advanced Registration.
